This program offers a special opportunity for students to experience adventurous activities in the unique landscapes of Aotearoa, New Zealand. Explore remote wilderness areas and local National Parks, while taking part in different adventurous activities such as kayaking, hiking, caving and camping.
Nau mai, Haere Mai - Welcome to Aotearoa - New Zealand. Experience and learn about Aotearoa through this unique, immersive adventure program designed with international students in mind. You will be supported by the experienced and friendly team from ExpedNZ/Whenua Iti Outdoors to make the most of the learning and adventurous opportunities that await.
Program Outline
Each program is unique. We design our programs to be flexible to adapt to the weather and learning opportunities as they arise. The programme will include a mix of activities that could include sea kayaking, tramping, caving, rock-climbing, abseiling, camping, navigation skills, stand-up paddle-boarding. The information below will give you an idea of what can be included in the program, but is not a set itinerary. This will be finalized closer to the time of the program.
Adventure Abel Tasman
Head into the renowned Abel Tasman National Park to venture deeper into the heart of the park.
- Explore underground limestone caves – a challenging and rewarding experience
- Hike of kayak through sections of the Abel Tasman Track.
- Learn navigation and bush skills as you camp under a blanket of stars on clear sky nights.
Adventure Kahurangi
Prepare for a mountain adventure with a trip across our high ropes adventure course at base, before entering the diverse and wild Kahurangi National Park, New Zealand’s second largest national park.
- Enjoy panoramic views from the top of Tu Ao Wharepapa (Mt Arthur) or other peaks of our local mountain range
- Experience the native forest and learn about the glaciated marble outcrops and limestone landscapes
Adventure Nelson Lakes
Hike or kayak sections of the beautiful alpine and lake district with stunning peaks and clear waters.
- Venture by kayak across the lake –
an early start will reward you with stunning lake reflections - On a journey by land, hike along bush-clad trails to reach waterfalls, rivers and alpine tops in clear conditions.
Adventure Golden Bay
Explore the varied and beautiful landscapes in the Golden Bay region, the northern-most end of the Abel Tasman National Park, while taking part in a range of activities.
- Climb or abseil the limestone cliffs
- Hike along bush tracks to reach stunning caves or waterfalls.
- Paddleboard one of the many tidal inlets of the region
- Visit the sacred Te Waikoropupū Springs
Program Inclusions
The cost of your program includes all planned learning activities, field trips, accommodation, food (which you cook for yourself), specialist outdoor equipment and transport within the program.
Transport to Nelson is not included in the progam cost, flights or other transport is to be arranged separately by the student with suitable support from your NZ school and / or guardian. We can provide transport from Nelson airport if required (additional $50 transfer fee).
