Adventurous Journey – Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Join Whenua Iti Outdoors to complete part of your Adventurous Journey Award component on an unforgettable 4 day / 3 night excursion.

Venture into one of our stunning local national parks or surrounds, such as the Kahurangi, Nelson Lakes or Abel Tasman on a journey that you help plan! This journey will enable you to complete a Gold Practice or Qualifier, a Silver Practice or Qualifier, or for those enrolled in the Bronze Award, you will be able to complete both your Practice AND your Qualifier. This is true for the Kākāriki Journey as well.

Plan your Journey

You get to be involved in planning your journey with us and choose from a range of activity options that are available, lead by our qualified and experienced instructors. If you are a small group* (less than 6), you will need to enrol individually and let us know the members of your group to assist in planning. We will develop a journey together to meet the needs of all the participants – that’s half the fun!

*If you are a group of 6 or more we recommend you contact us for a tailored programme.

Activities to Choose From

Activities could include rock climbing, caving, mountain biking, cooking in the outdoors, sea kayaking, bush survival, bush skills and navigation, with a plan for different options to suit the season and weather for your journey. As part of the planning we will develop a journey to meet as many of your objectives as we can. We provide all transport, activities, outdoor gear and qualified instructors. Check out our Outcomes & Activities page to get an idea of the possibilities.
